ART SHOW INFO

Join SUSPEND and THE NAMELESS BRAND for SUSPEND Magazine’s first ever photography show titled "SUSPEND REVISITED"  at FRED SEGAL'S MAURO'S CAFE on Thursday August 20th with work by SUSPEND photographers Diane Abapo, Kayla Reefer, Jonathan Tate and Randy Nakajima. Mauro's Cafe at Fred Segal is located at 8112 Melrose Ave.

Dinner will be served from 7PM to 10PM. For reservations contact 323-653-2874. Photos on display will be available to purchase for one night only and will be curated by Justin Bobby of The Nameless Brand. SUSPEND will be selling copies of our latest print issue – ISSUE 05: Hayley Kiyoko – at the event. Pastry chef and Mauro’s Cafe manager, Basile Bouhadida, will be serving an original dessert of his choice, a chocolate mousse cake, for dinner guests.

SUSPEND Magazine is an independent bi-annual print publication headquartered in Los Angeles with an emphasis on street culture, art, and fashion. Currently on its fifth issue, the magazine has always centered on street fashion, initially collaborating on original editorials with Fairfax vintage boutique, Tried & True Co., for some of its earliest online and print editorials. Editor-in-chief Diane Abapo photographed the brand’s earliest lookbook editorials featuring dressed-down models in the inaugural lookbook (Stacey Hash, Devon Drakkar, Tenille Chambers, Jacob Crumbley, and Umi Wagoner). The first lookbook styled and creatively directed by Arthur Walter Booker IV came to be SUSPEND’s most recognizable editorial and three years later, still captures the youth street fashion movement that is predominant in today’s culture. Prints from this editorial as well as images of other SUSPEND noted artists will be put on display by the Editor-in-chief.

Other work to be featured: Kayla Reefer and her tour experiences with Talib Kweli will be on display as well as photography from staff photographer Jonathan Tate and ISSUE 05 cover photographer Randy Nakajima. All photographs to be displayed will be available to purchase. For pricing and artwork information, please contact Justin Bobby at 213-804-7720.

Justin Bobby, art curator for the evening, is the mastermind behind The Nameless Brand whose goal is to contribute to the culture through collaborative efforts with designers and artists “without the stench of corporate filler”. Instead of releasing “collections” like other brands, The Nameless Brand purposefully releases artist collaboration pieces as limited quantity quick strikes, in multiples of threes. Ultimately manifesting the idea of the connoisseur lifestyle and breaking down the cycle of the cookie-cutter brands that are based solely on hype.
